Lamin Waa Juwara has told the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) chaired by Dr. Lamin J. Sise that he was molested, abused, arrested, detained, tortured several times during the 22 years dictatorial rule of Yahya Jammeh.
He explained that he suffered in the hands of both Baba Jobe and his thugs who eventually broke one of his finger. “Baba Jobe and his boys attacked me and broke my finger with the aim of killing me but some soldiers intervened and rescued me in their hands,” he narrates.
He stated that he would have been killed by Baba Jobe and his thugs at Denton bridge if not the intervention of some soldiers there.
He pointed out that Baba Jobe was working for Jammeh and not for the Government of The Gambia and that Baba Jobe was so powerful that no one dares him.
Lamin Waa Juwara, born in 1943 in Dankunku and served as a parliamentarian in both Ex-president Dawda Jawara’s and Yahya Jammeh’s adminstrations disclosed that he was arrested time without numbers and without reasons.
He said Jammeh at the time didn’t want any opposition at all but he was dumbfounded when the coup d-etat took place because of what happened.
