First Lady of the Republic of The Gambia met Sheikh Al-Azhar Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb

Cairo ( GMTV2 ) : His Eminence Imam Al-Akbar, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh Al-Azhar received today, Mrs. Fatumata Bah Barrow, First Lady of the Republic of The Gambia, during her official visit to Cairo Egypt.

The Grand Imam expressed his gratitude to the First Lady of the Republic of The Gambia and the accompanying delegation, stressing that Al-Azhar is ready to increase the number of scholarships allocated for University students from The Gambia to study in Al-Azhar, and receive the imams of the Gambia to train them and inform them of the latest mechanisms to confront extremist ideas.

His Eminence affirmed the support of Al-Azhar, the permanent honor of the countries of the African continent on the religious and social levels, through what Al-Azhar sent medical and relief convoys to the countries of the continent to help their peoples face various intellectual and humanitarian dangers.

During the meeting, his eminence made it clear that Al-Azhar opened the door for African students to join practical colleges, such as medicine, engineering, etc., in addition to the legal and Arabic language colleges, as a contribution from him in achieving development goals in the countries of the continent, in addition to his advocacy and humanitarian role.

For her part, Mrs. Fatumata Bah Barrow, First Lady of the Republic of The Gambia said that the Gambian youth are looking forward to studying in Al-Azhar Al Sharif, the fortress of moderation and tolerance in the Islamic world, expressing her hope that Al-Azhar will open a center for teaching the Arabic language, and an Al-Azhar institute to provide educational and advocacy services to the children of the Gambia who love Al-Azhar and its global message.

It is worth noting that, at the beginning of this year, the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, doubled the number of scholarships granted to male and female students of the Republic of Gambia to 16 scholarships, distributed across all scientific and religious specialties, and Al-Azhar taught 51 male and female students, among more than 35 thousand Students receive sciences with various specializations within its halls and prestigious university.
